Carving Pumpkins is Cozy!

And definitely not just for children!

Last night we “grown ups” gathered around the fire pit – knives, markers and spoons in hand and got creative with our ghoulish gourds! Do you have any idea how hard it is to drink mulled wine and carve a pumpkin at the same time? Do ya???

Kimberly made a great nosh including a brie spider style – it was too dark for me to take a picture so this one is from CuckooCooks.com (Kimberly used pretzel sticks attached with peanut butter for the legs, a bit creepier and crunchier thought!)

Cuckoo Cooks: Spider Brie

After what we proclaimed was a highly successful carving we went off to dinner at Cafe Presse in Capitol Hill which had absolutely nothing to do with Halloween except Gavin did have pumpkin soup – the restaurant had limited vegetarian choices but the soup was delish.

Tonight, the pumpkins make their debut on our front porch and on Halloween Sunday will be attended by all of us greeting Trick or Treaters in our “costumes”………(this is where dramatic organ music comes in.)..you’ll have to wait and see what we’ve come up with! Cozy or just plain cuckoo? You be the judge!

P.S. I love Don Knotts and nominate Steve Buscemi as the Don Knotts of the 21st century!
