Give!!!! The ultimate Cozy!

This holiday season my siblings and I decided (finally) to do away with gift giving, no longer have that mountain of presents which takes hours to buy and unwrap (yes friends, I still love the rustle of paper…) and just donate that money to charity.


As we are a huge animal charity family each of us will choose the charity of our choice and do a little presentation of this on Christmas morning.

This will most likely be accompanied by numerous glasses of champagne – common there has to be a little luxury somewhere!


Think about giving to charities this holiday season and actually all throughout the year. Even if its ten dollars here and ten dollars there it can make a little difference to some of these small charities who are doing so much good! (It’s kinda like the Obama fundraising philosophy!!!).

I am proud to say that my sister LuAnn Apple in Melbourne Beach, Florida who has been involved with rescuing exotic birds for well over 20 years has this year started her own non-profit – M.A.R.S – that’s Melbourne Aviary Rescue Society. Her website marsparrots.org will be up come the first of the year and is going to be fantastic with lots of great stories of her day to day adventures with these amazing birds!

I’ve been involved with Catnippers (which is part of bestfriends.org)- they do huge spay/neuter clinics for feral cats and they are awesome!

My sister Lisa works with 2 charities out in Simi Valley (this is where I took Parker and for the donation of $40 the examined him, neutered him, gave him shots and clipped his ear to show that he is spayed. (Wow, what a deal!). I know there are lots of you out there who are doing the same. I’d like to hear about them! Lets share some ideas!

Who needs more “stuff”????? Make some little creature happy this Christmas! They will give you so much LOVE in return!

    I think it’s awesome that your sister was able to start that organization. I recently discovered the Animal Rescue Site myself, and I make sure to give my .6 bowl of food a day.

    Leslie, Delighted with all your recent posts. How cozy one feels when viewing your site. Thank-you for the mention of our sanctuary. Every day here with the exotic birds is amazing. Sometimes even cozy when we cuddle cockatoos around the back area fire pit. Everyone picks their favorite bird and a big blanket. Imagine all the sweet sounds from the kids and the birds. Again looking forward to future posts.
