Mulberries

Mulberries
Mulberries, such a childhood memory! Funny thing is, I can’t remember exactly where the tree was but I sure remember picking and eating those sweet juicy berries! And now I have a huge tree that overlooks my driveway (it does get a little messy) and I can pop one into my mouth whenever I want! For me, a real walk down memory lane and a little research tell me that the silkworm’s diet consists of Mulberries – the trees originate from Asia, Africa and North America. There’s even a guy in Santa Barbara who’s put them on the menu:
Downey’s (1305 State St., 966-5006), where John Downey has said: “I will be serving them for dessert with your choice of our own vanilla bean ice cream or crème fraîche. I made a little mulberry ice cream, too, if you would like to double dip!”
As if I didn’t already love Santa Barbara enough, now I have one more reason!
