Rosy Cozy

by Leslie Patson | 20th April 2009

Although it looks like something out of a Monet painting, it’s right in my backyard – the Huntington Gardens in San Marino, California! As soon as I arrived I truly felt like I was transported into another world. The air was soft and summery and smelled like roses. No wonder as the rose garden (always my first stop) was fantastic!

Line ‘em up! Check out these beauties but bear with me, lots of photos, there were so many amazing flowers!

There were a lot of these varigated roses which I found interesting and especially beautiful!

I called this the Vintage Rose – I mean the color, almost a rosy khaki was something I’d never seen before!

This one reminded me of a tulip

How about a little lettuce! The herb garden is quite huge and mixed in with some vegetables and flowers. They was a giant sprinkler watering when I was going through so I often had to run to avoid getting soaked!

And finally like another painting…….

I did learn that the library (which somehow I’ve never been into), the gallery and the gift shop don’t open until noon so I will return another day to check that out. Also, it gets very very hot walking around so come prepared with a hat or sunscreen or umbrella……..shade is definitely at a minimum in some parts of the garden.
