Welcoming Spring

Spring knocked on the door officially on March 20th and I don’t know about you, but I am so ready! This weekend I went to Home Depot and continuing with my color scheme of mostly white, silver and tiny bits of lavender, bought about 7 or 8 pots of refresher flowers. And seeing that it doesn’t get dark until around 7ish now I was able to plant some after work the other night and even through a few in before work (Marc thinks I am such a spaz, maybe he’s right!). But you can’t imagine my happiness when I realized I actually had one gorgeous purple Iris open up! Maybe there will be others! I did plant a clump and so far so good, but only one flower. Hey, one is better than none! I will never forget on a trip to Tuscany with my friend Susan many years ago passing an old stone wall with seemingly wild irises just growing everywhere. Why did I not get something other than just a mental picture of that??? Evidence of tulips is also encouraging…
I have not had a ton of success with flowers in my garden although I have some beautiful grasses and ivy’s. Even tiny violets which are so sweet. Some things grow and some things just don’t. But I am determined and keep adding coffee grounds (thanks Starbucks!) teabags and eggshells. My garden likes breakfast! I can’t give up, I just keep on trying!
