Whoever said Relocation was Cozy was Crazy!

We did it!
If anyone ever would have told me that one day I drive over 9 hours a day, for 2 days, with 3 not so quiet cats in the car, I would have told them they were crazy. But that’s exactly what I did and I am alive and smiling to tell the story!
After super amazing friends (we love you guys!) helped us to pack up our UHaul in Los Angeles we jumped on the 5 North fwy – hired friend Sean driving the truck, Marc in his Audi wagon, and me in my not-so-elegant Mercedes crammed with 3 pissed off cats, kitty boxes, kitty litter and numerous other last minute “jam-ins”. Yes, I would later discover my dishwashing brush in the center console of my car. Don’t ask, I don’t remember!
The weather was not so bad leaving Los Angeles but boy did it get hot…..

This made it impossible to really stop for food. You can’t leave cats in the car in that heat so we gobbled down fast food in non existant shade and got back on the road. Our destination on the first night was ambitious. Most people doing the trip stop in Redding but we went an hour past to Weed. Yes, Weed. Even our truck driver said that would have cracked him up about 25 years ago! Where are Beavis and Butthead when you need them?
Necessary kitty stops like this one below slowed us down and we rolled into Weed late, even all the horrible chain restaurants were closed. I was beginning to think I would never eat a normal meal again and for that night I sure was right! We found some Subway/Indian restaurant combo. I kid you not. Total Twin Peaks too. That’s what I felt like eating?I think NOT!!!! We got 2 chicken soups to go and ate them back at the hotel room – they were super spicy with n’er a noodle but we were desperate.

Needless to say, we survived and the next day the temps were luckily much cooler. The landscape was incredible and finally, finally around 7pm this is what we saw:

We’d made it! And as we pulled up into our beautiful, green Queen Anne neighborhood there was our truck, arriving 30 minutes before us already being unloaded by amazing Gavin and his band of fantastic friends. Stay tuned as a new chapter of Cozy begins!
